
Dignity Initiative and the Parliamentary Committee on Sustainable Development and Good Governance jointly organized a national dialogue on “Halfway to Agenda 2030: Reflecting on Progress and Challenges.” The committee shared its findings on the mid-term SDGs performance from Dalit’s perspective. The participants complemented the report with their experiences and observations concerning to the implementation of Agenda 2030.
Dr. Roj Nath Pandey, secretary of the federal parliament, made a comprehensive presentation on the implementation status of the SDGs. He talked about the available normative framework that guide SDGs and allocation of the budget to implement them. According to him, the federal government allocated less than 1% in the implementation of the SDGs 16 and 5. He also highlighted the policy and structural problems associated to the implementation of the SDGs.
He also shared the works done by the provinces in relation to the implementation of the SDGs. Citing the increasing constrains of the funding, he mentioned that budget is seriously lacking for the implementation. He also shared a set of recommendations to all stakeholders for the honest implementation of the SDGs.
