6th General Assembly elects’ new executive team

The 5th General Assembly of the Dignity Initiative has elected a new board, led by Mr. Rup Sunar, a prominent human rights activist in the country. Mr. Bhola Paswan, a well-known journalist and advocate for Madhesh rights, has been elected as the Vice Chairperson. Mr. Ratna BK, a sociologist, will serve as the Secretary, while Sanju Sarbariya has been elected as the Treasurer of the organization. Other board members who were elected were Jinita Bishwokarma, Dhirendra Sinal, Sushma Chhinal, Ganga Biswokarma and Binita Nepali.

Before the General Assembly, political leaders, activists, and other stakeholders were invited to the event. Among the attendees were leaders from various political parties, including the Chair of the National Dalit Commission and civil society leaders. Recognizing the knowledge production and advocacy efforts of the organization, participants unanimously expressed their expectations that the Dignity Initiative should continue supporting the movement by offering appropriate knowledge and insights. They also recommended regular discussions to bring all stakeholders together to present the Dalit community’s position on contemporary socio-economic and political issues.
