Caste and Agenda 2030

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires a steadfast commitment to inclusivity, particularly for marginalized communities like Dalits. The principle of “Leave No One Behind” sits at the center of SDGs implementation, emphasizing that those at the bottom deserves equal access to opportunities and resources.

We are engaged to tracking the progress of the SDGs as they relate to Dalit communities. This includes monitoring indicators that specifically impact their socio-economic conditions, health, education, and human rights. By conducting thorough assessments and gathering data, we aim to highlight gaps and challenges that Dalits face in achieving these goals. We prepare spotlight reports to see the SDGs performance from Dalit’s perspective. These reports provide alternative perspective on the implementation of the SDGs from Dalit’s perspective.

To ensure that the voices of Dalits are heard at both national and international levels, we actively engage in the reporting processes of Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). These reviews assess each country’s progress toward the SDGs and provide an opportunity to advocate for the inclusion of Dalit perspectives. Our organization collaborates with various stakeholders, including government bodies and civil society organizations, to provide comprehensive feedback on the status of Dalits in relation to the SDGs. By promoting the SDGs in conjunction with Dalit issues, we aim to influence policy changes that foster equitable development. Our advocacy efforts also focus on ensuring that the commitments made during the VNRs translate into actionable policies that benefit Dalit communities.
