Dignity Initiative conducts a series of actions to influence people, policies, structures, and systems to advance equality, social justice, and respect for the human rights of Dalits in Nepal. The new constitution of Nepal recognizes caste discrimination as a serious social crime and protects Dalit rights under the fundamental rights section. Therefore, our advocacy activities aim to influence public policies in favor of the Dalit community and hold the state accountable for implementing constitutionally guaranteed rights and legislations.
Dignity Initiative undertakes advocacy efforts to influence public policies in favour of the community and hold the state accountable. It conducts research and provide evidence-based recommendations to lawmakers, while raising public awareness about the issues that affect Dalits. By engaging directly with the Dalit community, we amplify Dalit voices and make sure that their needs are represented in policy discussions. In addition, we monitor government actions, ensuring compliance with human rights standards, and collaborate with other organizations to strengthen their advocacy efforts. Through the production of impactful reports and studies, Dignity Initiative highlights critical issues and inform policymakers about the effects of existing policies. This aims to create positive social change by ensuring that the voices of the Dalit communities are heard and considered in the policy-making process. To this end, Dignity Initiative works closely with the political parties, member of parliament, CSOs, media and other stakeholders. It also joins hands in solidarity with the national, regional and international network groups to further the cause of the community.
